1) What is the TED organization about?
   - TED is about people talking about all the things happening in the world and theories about some of the problems the world has today

2) What is the purpose of their website and how does the functionality of their site support that?
   - The purpose of their website is to talk about new science breakthroughs or problems or events that are currently happening. Their site supports it by getting different speakers for different topics and know what they are doing

3) As Engineers and Problem Solvers, which topic areas (the choices from the "Show talks related to:" section on the sidebar) are of most interest to us? Justify your answer.
   - Technology is important to us because the whole world is technology now and we need to build something to support it. Design is also important because as engineers we need a design to have to build off of and expand on.

4) Based on your previous answer, what are 3 talks (videos) on the site that appear like they would be of most interest to you as an Engineer/Problem Solver? Justify your choices.
   1. Thomas Thwaites: How I built a toaster -- from scratch
   2. Reviving New York's rivers -- with oysters!
   3. Cynthia Breazeal: The rise of personal robots

5) Each student will watch a unique video. Claim your video on the following period specific posts: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th. If no one else has claimed your video, leave a comment on that post to call the one you want. If someone else has already claimed the talk, go back and pick another one. Watch the video. Embed the video in your blog post and create a bulletized outline of the key issues presented in the talk
    -

6) How could you get involved in the field/technology/issue you chose to hear about? What experience/skills/training/education would you need to learn to get involved with this field?
   - I could get involved by getting acquainted with the military technology and design a couple of layouts of some new ideas, but I would have to specialize into that major in college or something.

Reverse Engineering: Mechanicnal Product - Functional Analysis

1. What is the purpose or primary function of the object?
- The primary objective of this product is to tell or keep track of time

2. Make an educated guess as to how this product operates. Use simple machines’ terminology to explain the object’s sequential operation.
-There are gears in the clock that spin the hands which help keep track of time by staying on top of the number that's the time of day and batteries are what power these gears

3. Identify the system inputs, intended product function, and outputs. Use power point to create a "black box" graphic like the toothbrush example discussed in class. Save the slide as a .jpg image and post it to answer this question.
-

4. What mechanical components are visible?
- There are gears in the back of the clock that move the gears you cant see man manually
-Also the hands so second minute and hour hand on the axis in the center of the clock

5. What is it about this device’s function that you cannot identify, because the mechanical components are hidden from plain view?
-the gears on the inside of the clock
-batteries that power the clock
-and many mechanical parts that i cant identify due to complications

-- Front view of the clock

-- some elements in the front view are texture because in the picture the glass reflects so you there is glass in the front, another element is line with the two hands and the second hand

-- some principles are balance and rhythm with the time has equal space in between each other and are equally spread apart, they are to proportion

-- Top view of my clock

--two elements of the top view are texture, it looks smooth, and shape with a rectangle, it also shows color, grey

-- the principles it has is proportion and scale with the front view with the clock

--Side view of the clock

-- two elements of the top view are texture, it looks smooth, and shape with a rectangle, it also shows color, grey

-- the principles it has is proportion and scale with the front view with the clock

The purpose of the clock is to be able to tell time and know the time of day, it meets to mechanical requirements because the second hand, big and small hand all move with the time of day. It also has knobs on the back to change the time for daylight savings or a new time zone.

My Audience:
 - the audience my clock will be a broad range of people as everyone has a clock in their house and this clock is a good to fit anywhere in the house. My audience is everyone who caa tell a time from a analog clock.
